Spend an evening at Disney Springs
Spending time at Disney Springs is the perfect way to get out of your resort and do something fun without using a park ticket. (And saving days on park tickets can come in handy if you’re on a budget or have a weird amount of time before or after your flight to Orlando. There is so much to do in Disney Springs that you’re sure to find something that suits your interests as a couple.
Our favorite Disney Springs date night location happens to be The Boathouse. Since we’re not usually spending that much time at Disney Springs, we really enjoy being able to have a nice dinner or even just grab some drinks right on the waterfront. The food at The Boathouse is really incredible, and we find that the menu fits whatever we’re working with for a budget on a given day since there are so many options. If we’re feeling like a splurge, we can even extend our time in Disney Springs by taking an Amphicar tour right from The Boathouse.

Hang out by your resort pool
So many guests never spend time at the pool at their resorts, and I really think they’re missing out. I understand the mentality of not wanting to do things you can theoretically do at home while you’re in Disney, but since this is such an active vacation it’s nice to take a break to relax at the resort. If you stay at a Disney resort (which you should) it’s super easy to hop between the parks and your resort to take a break in the middle of the day.
Alternatively, spending time at the pool is another great way to do something without using a park ticket. All the resort pools have bars nearby and usually quick service and occasionally table service restaurants too. While geared more for kids and families, recreation cast members are always hosting activities by the pool so there is plenty to do right at your resort.
Picnic on the Hub Grass
Enhance your date in the Magic Kingdom by relaxing with a picnic lunch on the Hub Grass. Pick up lunch nearby at Casey’s Corner or grab ice creams from the Plaza and spend some time together on the Hub Grass. It’s the perfect spot to take a break from the hustle and bustle of the rest of the park (and if you’re eating during the lunch rush you can avoid the stress of having to find a table when the quick service restaurants tend to me the most crowded). Plus, the Hub Grass offers some of the best views of Cinderella Castle, making this one of our favorite date spots while we’re visiting the Magic Kingdom.

Stroll along Disney’s BoardWalk
Disney’s BoardWalk is a small dining and entertainment complex located right in walking distance of Epcot. Since it’s so close to the park it’s an easy walk (or boat ride) and it’s one of our favorite things to do on nights where Epcot closes around 9:00 pm. The BoardWalk offers signature dining, entertainment, a sports bar, carnival games, surrey bike rides, shopping, and more.
One of our favorite spots on the BoardWalk is Jellyrolls. This dueling piano bar is open until 2:00 am, and while it does have a ($12) cover fee to get in we think it’s totally worth it. The performers take guest requests all night, while you sit back and enjoy complimentary popcorn or get up and dance if the mood strikes. In addition to a full bar Jellyrolls also has nightly specials with 32 oz mixed drinks for just $12 (which as I’m sure you know is a total steal in terms of theme park pricing!) It is 21+ at all hours, but our next pick is a perfect place for a non-21+ date night in the same resort area…
Try the Kitchen Sink at Beaches and Cream

Just a short walk around Crescent Lake from the BoardWalk will lead you to Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club Resorts. For a sweeter date night, head to Beaches and Cream at the Beach Club and try your best to conquer the Kitchen Sink as a couple. The Kitchen Sink as its name suggests is a mammoth sundae dish that features eight scoops of ice cream and every topping in the house including a full can of whipped cream! The full list of ingredients certainly isn’t for everyone, so if the blending of all these flavors doesn’t sit well with you consider ordering the chocolate version instead.
Looking for a 21+ Beaches and Cream experience? Order lunch or dinner and relax in this retro soda fountain with an alcoholic float. Floats can be ordered with regular sodas, or jazzed up with Guinness, or an array of hard ciders and sodas. (We love the S’mores Float! It’s made with chocolate and vanilla ice cream, Amarula Cream Liqeuer, and Bols Creme de Dark Cacao all topped with marshmallow, chocolate sauce, and graham crackers.)
Learn more about Disney’s Animal Kingdom on Wild Africa Trek

Wild Africa Trek is an excursion at Disney’s Animal Kingdom that allows guests to explore Kilimanjaro Safaris and Gorilla Falls Exploration Trail on a much more personal level. This backstage tour of sorts explores areas within Africa that are not typically seen by day guests. Wild Africa Trek even comes with an extra dose of adventure as guests are able to cross over the areas where the crocodiles and hippos are housed while wearing a harness of course, in the area seen from the Kilimanjaro Safari ride path.
While the trek does come with an added cost on top of your park ticket, it’s a truly special experience that allows you to get closer to the animals and spend more time learning about them and how you can help conserve their natural habitats. The outing even comes with a private lunch by the savanna with snacks by Tusker House!
