Ahh, snack time. One of my favorite times of the day! Walt Disney World has food galore throughout its four parks, and there are so many different options to choose from! Snacks are the best way to make it through a rope drop to park close kind of day—I know for my family personally, we typically eat one or two main meals during the day and supplement with various treats. If you’re any sort of Walt Disney World know-it-all, I’m sure you’ve heard of (and probably tried) the classics: Dole Whip, Mickey Premium Bars, and Turkey Legs, to name a few. They are all beloved for a reason, but that doesn’t mean you can’t branch out and try new things too! Here are a few of my favorite underrated snacks, in no particular order.
Croque Glace: (L’Artisan des Glaces)
EPCOT’s World Showcase is known for its wide variety of delectable treats. The France Pavilion, in particular, is home to dozens of yummy desserts waiting to be discovered. One that does not get a lot of credit is the Croque Glace. It is essentially an ice cream sandwich, but instead of being covered by cookies, the ice cream is housed inside a warm brioche bun. You get to choose your flavors, and then the ice cream is scooped onto a bun and pressed so the filling is encased while the bread heats up. The contrast of the cold ice cream and the warm bun is unexpected and delightful, and it’s definitely enough for two if you feel inclined to share! Pickles
If you’re looking for a quick, easy, and super affordable snack, the pre-packaged pickles are the way to go. This is one of my favorite snacks at WDW, and not just because pickles are one of my favorite snacks in general. Just the right amount of crunch and they’re a good size too, especially considering they’re only $1.59, making them one of the cheapest foods you can buy on property. Plus, they come in a plastic wrapping which makes them super handy to enjoy while walking through the parks and keeps things juice-free. I’ve been able to find them at a couple locations throughout the parks, namely Liberty Square Market and Prince Eric’s Market in Magic Kingdom, and Anaheim Produce at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Can’t beat cheap and delicious!
PB&J Milkshake
Everyone loves a classic, and this snack combines two beloved favorites: peanut butter and jelly and ice cream. You wouldn’t think that a sandwich-inspired dessert would taste good, but somehow it does! The flavors blend together just right to create a nutty, sweet creation, and it’s incredibly dense so you can easily enjoy it as a dessert instead of a beverage if you so desire. This shake is primarily on the menu at 50’s Prime Time Café at Disney’s Hollywood Studios for $7.00, but you can also order the shake on its own from the Tune-In Lounge right next door—which means if you’re of age you can enjoy a milkshake and an alcoholic drink at the same time! How cool is that!?
Ham and Cheese-Stuffed Pretzel
I have yet to try the Ham and Cheese-Stuffed Pretzel, but my boyfriend Nathan can confirm it is the bee’s knees! He first discovered it by accident at The Lunching Pad in Magic Kingdom when they were out of the standard Mickey Pretzels and offered it up to him instead. Ham and cheese is a classic combo beloved by many, and enjoying it wrapped in a thick, hot pretzel bun makes it even better! This is one that will satisfy everyone from young to old, and it could double as a meal, especially for a picky eater. The Ham and Cheese-Stuffed Pretzel no longer appears to be sold at The Lunching Pad; however, it can now be found at Gaston’s Tavern in Magic Kingdom for $9.99.
Chocolate Waffle with Chocolate Mousse (Tamu Tamu Refreshments)
Chocolate lovers, this one’s for you! Tamu Tamu Refreshments at Disney’s Animal Kingdom is home to a delicious chocolate waffle with your choice of vanilla ice cream or chocolate mousse. I have not tried it with the ice cream, but combined with the mousse it was just delightful. The crispness of the waffle complimented the fluffiness of the mousse, and it was topped off with a light chocolate drizzle. As well, it’s not a huge portion, which is great because as much as we all love chocolate, too much of it sitting heavily in your stomach while walking around the hot parks may not be a good thing. The Chocolate Waffle with Chocolate Mousse is $5.59, and just the right size to fill you up and satisfy that sweet tooth!

Sour Cream and Chive Popcorn
If you’ve ever had a box of Walt Disney World popcorn, take the feeling you had when you savored that delicious corn, multiply it by ten, and you’ll have the tastiness of the flavored popcorn found by the Imagination Pavilion at EPCOT. The Imagination Popcorn Cart is home to the traditional popcorn available around Walt Disney World, plus three additional flavors—Cheddar Cheese, Buffalo Bleu Cheese, and Sour Cream and Chive. Thus far, I have only tried the Sour Cream and Chive flavor, but I can say wholeheartedly that it was some of the best popcorn I’ve had in a long time! It’s oniony, garlicky, and just a little tangy, and the flavors all mix together beautifully. I can’t wait to eventually try the other two! You can buy a box of this popcorn for $4.75, which is a great price for the quality you receive!
LeFou’s Brew (Gaston’s Tavern)
Although this one is technically a beverage, I’m including it because it is frozen and could be considered a snack (at least, I always think of it as one!). LeFou’s Brew—found at Gaston’s Tavern in Magic Kingdom for $5.49—is made up of an odd assortment of flavors but somehow all put together it works. The slushy itself tastes a lot like apple juice or cider with just a hint of marshmallow (I don’t know who came up with that combination, but thank goodness for them!), and it comes with a large tuft of mango-flavored foam on top. This snack is easy to consume while walking since it’s not going to make a mess, and it’s perfect during a hot day trekking around the parks!
Pimento-Cheese BLT (The Smiling Crocodile)
The Pimento-Cheese BLT is a great bite to keep you satisfied if you’re trying to tide yourself over until your next big meal. It’s not your traditional bacon-lettuce-tomato sandwich, as it is open-faced and slathered with—you guessed it—creamy pimento cheese. Diced tomatoes, chives, and smoked bacon are piled onto thick, crusty ciabatta bread along with the cheese spread. It is salty, delicious, and very filling—and definitely one you want to eat sitting down, as it can be quite messy. This snack is created at The Smiling Crocodile, and can be purchased for $5.29.
