I LOVE giving and receiving books for gifts for so many reasons. If I’m stuck on a gift idea for someone (which let’s be real is basically me every year halfway through December) I can usually find some kind of book they’d be interested in. And there are so many great Disney books to choose from so if you are shopping for other Disney fans there really is something for everyone.
There are more Disney books than I could ever fit in one post, so I may make this into more of a series… But for now, I wanted to give you guys a good mix of Disney books that you could gift this season (or pick up for yourself) to hopefully start your own collection!

Poster Art of the Disney Parks (Daniel Handke and Vanessa Hunt)
One of my favorite coffee table books, Poster Art of the Disney Parks shares high quality prints of classic attraction posters with information about their design and stories they are based on. It’s a lovely book to just have as a pictorial souvenir and could easily make a nice holiday gift for any fan of Disney Parks. This book is usually available at the parks, so if you happen to be there in person (or using the Shop Disney Parks app) you can pick it up there. I also just found out that there is a COLORING BOOK version of this one (which I don’t own, so if you’re thinking of getting me a Christmas gift…) but you can check that out here.

The E-Ticket Life: Stories, Essays, and Lessons Learned from My Decidedly Disney Travels (Kyle Burbank)
This book came out right around the time where I started taking blogging seriously. I ordered it when I returned to MA after my college program, and Brittany Earns Her Ears had just come out a few months earlier, so it was just the perfect time in my life to read this book. The E-Ticket Life follows Burbank’s descent into the “Disney lifestyle,” where he began reporting Disney news and essentially becoming fully immersed in Disney culture regardless of whether or not he was at the parks. If Disney is a huge part of your life, you’ll probably be able to relate to a lot of the stories in this book.

Disney War (James B. Stewart)
Disney War chronicles Michael Eisner’s time as CEO, with the good, the bag, and the ugly that came along with his reign. Stewart goes into a lot of detail into the inner workings of the company that the majority of casual Disney fans are probably unfamiliar with. It’s an interesting take on how Eisner moved along the Disney Renaissance and changed the landscape of the theme parks (around the world), while also covering scandals within the company and some of the downfalls that came during this period.

Since the World Began: Walt Disney World – The First 25 Years (Jeff Kurtti)
Published in 1996, this book covers the first 25 years of the Walt Disney World Resort. We have a copy on our coffee table and it’s definitely one of our favorites. I was four in 1996, so I’ve obviously missed lots of Disney’s past that is represented in this and other Disney history books. As a result, I love flipping through this book and getting that insight into what the resort was like and how those first 25 years were being remembered in the mid-90s. Totally recommend this one for any Disney Parks fan, but I think it’s especially a great book to have if you’re also on the younger side of Disney history to learn about Walt Disney World’s earlier history.

Remembering IllumiNations (Celebrations Press)
This collector’s book is a must-have for any IllumiNations fans you may be shopping for this season! It’s one of Celebrations Magazine‘s popular collector’s books making it a really special gift or simply a nice addition to your coffee table at home. (You browse all of Celebrations’ collectors’ books here). Remembering IllumiNations is full of high-quality photos and memories from this beloved Disney nighttime spectacular and with IllumiNations ending next year it’s going to be a great keepsake to have later on.

Who’s Afraid of Song of the South? And Other Forbidden Disney Stories? (Jim Korkis)
As its title suggests, this book by Disney historian Jim Korkis delves into the history (the good and the bad) of Song of the South along with other controversial topics related to the Walt Disney Company. It’s well-researched and loaded with information for gaining a greater understanding of these subjects and I really think it’s a must-have for any Disney fan.

Red, White, and Disney: The Myths & Realities of American History at the Walt Disney World Resort (Brittany DiCologero)
I spent the last two years working on Red, White, and Disney, and I think it’s the perfect gift for any Disney and/or American history buffs in your life! For this book, I researched the architectural and design details at the Walt Disney World Resort to see just how accurate they are to their real life counterparts in American history (think Liberty Square and the American Adventure, but even Tomorrowland, DinoLand, some of the resorts, and more!). It’s filled with information on where Disney got it right and where some creative liberties were taken, as well as the real-life backstories that inspired different areas in the park.
