There is no better place to celebrate a birthday than the Walt Disney World Resort. The magic of Disney and all the amazing options it provides to celebrate a birthday make it a wonderful place to party! In this post I have provided a helpful list of some of the options Walt Disney World provides to help you get into the birthday celebrating mood.
Inform the cast member when booking your vacation
Typically, when you book your vacation the cast member will ask you if you are celebrating a special occasion during your vacation. It is important to tell the cast member during this time that you are celebrating your birthday. When you tell the cast member that you are celebrating a birthday you should also let them know your name and age. This doesn’t guarantee that you’ll receive anything “extra” but if cast members during your trip are able to make some birthday magic for you it’s helpful for them to know this in advance.
Tell a cast member at the front desk about your birthday as you are checking in
If you are staying at a Walt Disney World resort, inform a cast member as you are checking in that you are celebrating your birthday. This sometimes results in a special delivery of balloons, character autographs, or special towel decorations in the room, however, this is not guaranteed. You can usually pick up a birthday button from your front desk when you check in as well, but more on that later!
Tell the host and/or waitstaff at table service meals
If you are going to a table service meal you should make sure to tell the cast member at the desk when you arrive as well as the cast member that is serving your table about your birthday. For instance, during my birthday celebration at Be Our Guest I received a special birthday surprise– a birthday card and celebratory “grey stuff” to my table! This made my visit to Be Our Guest very magical and unforgettable.
Get a birthday button
It is always an excellent idea to get a free birthday button while visiting Walt Disney World for a birthday. In addition to most merchandise locations around the Walt Disney World Resort, you can always get a button from any Guest Relations location at the four theme parks and Disney Springs.
Hint about your birthday while meeting characters
Make sure to wear the birthday button while meeting characters. By wearing the button, the character attendant will most likely inform the character and your meet and greet experience will be even more magical for the occasion.
Order a celebration cake
Celebrate your birthday with a festive Mickey ear hat shaped cake at any table service restaurant at Walt Disney World. This is available in white chocolate or milk chocolate. The celebration cakes serves 4 to 6 people and have a “Happy Birthday” message written on one of the ears. For $35, you can add one of these cakes to any table service reservation by calling 407-WDW-DINE.
Have a birthday party delivered to your room
Disney Floral & Gifts has many different birthday packages where you can get cakes, balloons, and surprises sent to your hotel room! The Mickey & Friends Ultimate Birthday Celebration ($550) is probably the coolest way to celebrate your birthday in your room. It comes with birthday balloons, gifts, toys, a cake, and happy birthday Mickey ears to wear around the parks.
Get a birthday card signed by your favorite character
Who is your favorite character? Imagine having a birthday card signed by your favorite character. This is an amazing way to make your meet and greet with your favorite character extra magical.
Wear birthday mouse ears
If you want to ensure that all cast members and characters know it is your birthday you can also buy or make (instructions in my DIY mouse ear post) birthday mouse ears.
