Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular Dessert Party at Disney’s Hollywood Studios (REVIEW)

Do you love Star Wars?  If so consider going to the Star Wars fireworks dessert party at Hollywood Studios.  This is a really fun way to get into the Star Wars mood before enjoying the Star Wars fireworks.

At this dessert party you can enjoy delicious Star Wars-themed desserts and drinks, and after the dessert party you have access to watch the Star Wars fireworks from a reserved viewing area.

Location

At various times each day, the menacing Captain Phasma leads a squad of First Order stormtroopers as they march in formation from Star Wars Launch Bay to the Center Stage area at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in an intimidating demonstration of the First Order’s indomitable strength. The Star Wars dessert party is held inside the Star Wars Launch Bay past the meet and greet area inside the Launch Bay.  The party usually begins at 7.30 PM.  Upon arriving for the dessert party, you have to check in at a podium in front of the Launch Bay entrance.

Atmosphere

I would recommend getting to the dessert party as early as possible.  This is due to the fact that the tables to enjoy the dessert at are not reserved.  As a result, if you arrive at the scheduled start time, 7:30 PM, you will have a better chance of getting a table. In addition to being able to have a table to enjoy your dessert you will have more time to enjoy the party.  This is beneficial because then you can get the most out of your money.

When you check in to the party you will receive a wristband.  This is used to help the cast members inside know that you are part of the dessert party.  With this wristband you can leave and return to the Launch Bay as needed.  This is a very helpful feature as there are no restrooms inside the Launch Bay.

The dessert stations and bar area are located down the steps in the Launch Bay.  This is where most of the tables are located.  Sadly, there are no seats to sit at during the party so you have to stand during the duration of the party.  There are additional tables up the steps along the corridor.  However, these tables are smaller than the others.

Fifteen minutes before the fireworks show starts dessert party guests are moved to the reserved viewing area.

Characters

Characters make appearances during this event.  These characters include Stormtroopers and Jawas.  The Stormtroopers patrol the party area, interact with guests, and pose for photos when asked.  The Jawas also walk around to meet and interact with guests. Visit Launch Bay earlier to meet Kylo Ren, BB-8, and Chewbacca before the party.

The new nightly Star Wars fireworks show, “Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular,” combines fireworks, pyrotechnics, special effects and video projections that turn the nearby Chinese Theater and other buildings at Disney’s Hollywood Studios into the twin suns of Tatooine, a field of battle droids, the trench of the Death Star, Starkiller Base and other Star Wars destinations. The show also features a tower of fire and spotlight beams, creating massive lightsabers in the sky. (David Roark, photographer)

The desserts station at this event has many delicious selections including cookies, cupcakes, rice crispy bon bons and other mini dessert treats.  The dessert selections are all Star Wars themed.

There is a freeze-dried Nutella truffle station available at this dessert party.  At this station you receive a scoop of Nutella mousse dipped in a pool of liquid nitrogen.  Within seconds you receive a frozen chocolate mousse dessert with additional options of toppings and sauces.

A hot bread pudding station is also available.  The bread pudding is served with optional sauces, berries, cream and toppings.

In addition to these three dessert stations there is also a station with non-dessert options.  This station has flatbreads with hummus and dips, cheese and olive skewers, tomato and mozzarella skewers, and fruit skewers.

The drink options during this dessert party include unlimited fruit juice, water and sodas.  There are also unlimited alcoholic beverages available.  These beverages are four Star Wars themed specialty cocktails.  The cocktails available during this dessert party are Galactic Punch (rum based with mango syrup and passion fruit juice), Cosmic Citrus Twist (vodka based with water melon lemonade), Light Speed Margarita, and Swamp milk (vodka and melon liqueur).

The cost of the Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular Dessert Party is $69.00 for adults and $39.00 for children.  When you booking your reservation for the dessert party you will need to pay for the dessert party in full at that time.  After making the reservation you will be sent an email confirmation of the scheduled start time and location for check in.

Rating

I rate the Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular Dessert Party four out of five stars.  The desserts available during this dessert party are extremely delicious.  The party is really fun and Star Wars themed. The characters are also a good touch as they provide really fun guest interaction.

In addition, the reserved viewing spot for the fireworks show is very helpful. It provides an excellent view of the fireworks and is crowd free.

The only downfall of the party is the cost.  Due to the fact that the party costs $69.00 for adults and $39.00 for children you would have to eat a lot for it to feel as though you got your money’s worth.  This is the reason why I gave a four out of five-star rating.

However, if you love Star Wars, dessert, and would like to have an amazing view for the fireworks the price is definitely worth it.  I would actually highly recommend attending the Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular Dessert Party if you ever get a chance!
