Mizner’s Lounge Review

Welcome to one of the most underrated bars at Walt Disney World, Mizner’s Lounge at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa. Mizner’s is located on the monorail level just behind the bandstand. While it’s always had a small crowd every time we’ve visited, we suspect that much of the crowd is made up of guests staying at the resort. If you happen to be planning a monorail bar crawl though or just looking for some new lounges to check out, we highly recommend Mizner’s.

For relaxing with a cocktail at the Grand Floridian the atmosphere really can’t get any better. The little alcove that the lounge is located in behind the bandstand makes for a perfect location to listen to the sounds of the Grand Floridian Society Orchestra. The lounge features bar seating along with more lounge-style seating, and an outdoor patio.

The patio is actually an official smoking section– Mizner’s Lounge offers a variety of cigars, and guests can take them right out onto the adjacent patio to smoke them). While the lounge does fit the Victorian theme of the resort, this motif is a bit toned down as the decor plays up the more modern and masculine notes that you would find in the nearby Commander Porter’s shop (which also sells cigars– in case you’re looking to purchase one without hanging around at the bar.

As for the menu, you’ll find a healthy mix of high end liquors and specialty cocktails mixed in with the standard Disney resort bar menu. The lounge also features a complimentary nut mix and an array of appetizers and entrees (served 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm only), and a small dessert menu which is served all day.

The Grand Cocktail

Our go-to mixed drink is the Grand Cocktail, which is crafted using Ketel Citroen Vodka, pomegranate liqueur, cranberry juice, and water. Other standout mixed drinks include the Mizner Cooler, made with St-Germain, Nolet’s Gin, lime juice, simple syrup, soda water, and fresh mint, and the Salted Caramel Manhattan with Palm Ridge Whiskey, Carpano Antica Sweet Vermouth, salted caramel syrup, bitters, and pineapple juice. Additionally, the menu features a variety of martinis that are unique compared to the other resort bars around the Walt Disney World Resort.

Selbach-Oster Riesling, Kabinett, Mosel
Mizner’s Lounge really isn’t a beer place, (only the resort bar menu standards are offered in this respect) but high end liquors and wine are prominent on the menu. Items include champagne, white wine, red wine, ports, cognacs, bourbon and whiskey, and scotch. Though I’ve never necessarily heard someone say so, I would not be surprised if there is some kind of assumed stigma among guests that Mizner’s Lounge is extremely out of budget. It can turn out to me much more than you’d like to spend given a certain budget, don’t get me wrong… but it does not have to be.
The Macallan 12 yr
Beers are in the $6-8 range, and there are select pours of scotch, whiskey or bourbon, and mixed cocktails that will only run you $14 or less. Now $14 may be expensive in general for a drink, but considering that a margarita at La Cava del Tequila in Epcot will cost more than this, we don’t find these prices to be as outrageous as you may think. Of course, if you do want to splurge at Mizner’s you can do that too. While the scotch in the photo above (the Macallan 12 yr) only cost $14, you could alternatively splurge for the 25 yr at $140 (for the same 2-oz pour).

All in all we love stopping at Mizner’s when we have some extra time before a dinner reservation on the monorail, or when we feel like taking a break from the parks. Despite its location on the second floor of the Grand Floridian (near the likes of Victoria and Albert’s and Citricos) there is no signature dining dress code, making it an easy place to spend some time during a break from the parks. We give Mizner’s a 100% rating, as the atmosphere can’t be beat and despite the opulent exterior and location it is not difficult to order within a reasonable budget and still enjoy yourself.
