Something Josh and I have been talking about since we met was starting a Disney movie podcast. We both love movies and for years now, we’ve had this idea that it would be fun to watch all of the Disney animated movies in order and record ourselves talking to them. This week, it finally happened!
The Backlot Express Show
We’re still working out some of the details, but so far, we’re planning to watch every Walt Disney Animation Studios film in order, starting with the first-ever full-length animated film, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937). Every five episodes or so, we’re planning on straying from the list of Disney animated movies and covering something else; everything from Pixar, live-action movies, other Disney studios, even D-COMs (Disney Channel Original Movies), and eventually sequels (plus maybe Star Wars, Marvel, and non-Disney movies, but that’s getting really far ahead.)
While I’ve been blogging for years, we’re both extremely new to podcasting, so we’d point out that we’re not pros at recording or editing yet, and that we would love to grow the show with subscribers and followers, and would really appreciate any support.
We have a couple of episodes recorded, and it’s been really fun so far. Josh and I have similar interests but totally different perspectives when it comes to how we think about these movies, and we’d love for you to come along for the ride!
So far, we’re planning on posting one episode per week, but again, are still working out the details, so please stick with us in case that changes. (And to be completely transparent, this one episode/week schedule is dependent on me editing them in a timely manner, and editing podcasts is something I’m totally new to, so we shall see!)

- Fantasia (1940)
- Dumbo (1941)
After these three episodes, we’re hoping to stray from the animated movie list and cover something different. (We were originally planning on a Halloween D-COM, but ended up launching the podcast later than expected so this may change.) We’d love to hear your ideas though for that first ‘rule breaker’ episode.
